Sleep Training for Cs

Yes, I have gone through the stage of getting Cs to "sleep through the night" - Phew~ It's the hardest phase in my parenting record so far. (*I know, more parenting challenges to come.*) I cannot imagine getting myself back to the Sleep-deprived stage, whereby M & Me were only getting 2 - 4 hours sleep a day in SECTIONS. Geezzz.....

So, what's the Sleep Training context about today? Well, I can't help feeling envious of my friends' kids who are able to sleep on their own. I am not expecting my kids to sleep in their OWN room yet as I don't have a spare room for now. But, at least getting them to bed on their OWN.

Cs have been very very very attached to M & Me, especially in the night. For some reasons, M & Me are very much comfortable and happy to sleep together with Cs as we feel that's our BONDING TIME with the kids since we don't see the kids for long hours during the weekdays. Hmm...somehow, we get a little wearied of the routine. Oppsie. :P

I am rather strict with the girls' sleeping routine, especially Big C. I always get them ready by 9 - 9:30pm for bed. By 10pm, they should be all asleep. It will a lot easier if it was Novi who sent them to bed, by most 1/2 hour times, they will be asleep. However, if it was me or M *Sigh*, they will put on their wonderful act and dragged it till late. I mean really late like 11pm or even 12 midnight sometimes. SO TIRING! Sometimes, we reached home late intentionally, so that Cs will just resort with sleeping early since Kakak will definitely not going to entertain them till late. Bad MaMa, I know. :p

Somehow I feel, this is not right! Cs have to learn to sleep on their own. They can do it during the daytime for their naps, why not in the night? I don't see a problem at all. So, I come out with a good plan. First, I have to coax Big C to be a "brave" princess using Mermaid Ariel as her role model. Hahaha...Yes... Princess Ariel is set as the "Brave" Princess from the audio storybook that I have been playing her Cs.

Then, I "threatened" her that if she is not "brave" enough to sleep on her own, I will not let PaPa into the room and have PaPa continue to work and not be home.

Then, again I used a lot of "Princess' Rules" to make sleeping on her own is a very very "Princess" thing to do.

Little C is a lot easier, most of the times, she would just fall asleep on her own without much hassle. Unless, Big C put up a big show, wailing for PaPa & MaMa, otherwise Little C is pretty much happy to get to bed at around 9pm.

Well, I am not sure whether was the COAXING or the THREATENING worked.

Day 1 : FAILED!

I told them not to be afraid, and that I will be just right at the door. I will be there for them IMMEDIATELY they shout out for me. Well, lights off, MaMa's out of the rooms, girls on bed. Not long after, Big C ran out and called for the loo. I had no choice but to bring them one after another. The story didn't end at the loo, they started to request for water, the lights on then the lights off UNTIL I surrendered and went in to bed with them.

My plan continued to fail me for daysssssss until

Day XX :

As usual, I told that I will be right at the door. Before I got out of the room, I told them no "shh shh", no water. But I gave them the option to have the lights on, and Big C chose to have the lights on. Thus, I left the room with the lights on, door closed. The girls chatted and laughed in the room, those melodious laughters and voices were so heart-melting. At the end, I sat by the door for almost 1/2 hours, listening to their beautiful voices. After which I realised that it was not right for them to CHAT in the night, it's time for bed. I shouted out at the door, and ordered them to SLEEP immediately. The room remained quiet for a while, and I slipped away to have my TV time. YUPPY!

Well, I didn't win all the times but at least I have the 50% winning record so far. Kakak is also doing the same, she would stay at the door and peep into the room once a while to make sure the girls are asleep before she take her rest. The situation is getting better each day. :)

Hopefully, it will be PERMANENT and that I will be the 100% winner! Muahahaha

Mount Kinabalu

Journey to Mt. Kinabalu starts from here.

I took an early flight departed from Kuala Lumpur at 8:30am, arrived Kota Kinabalu at 11:20am.

I met up with my buddy from Singapore in the K.K. Airport as her flight arrived at the same time.

We had our lunch in the Airport. There weren't much choices, in fact, we didn't see anywhere else other than KFC. Maybe, we did not try to explore the airport. :P

After our KFC lunch, We took the airport cab at about 1pm heading straight to Mesilau Nature Resort which is 2-1/2 hours away from the K.K. Airport. It may sounds a long journey, but it was quite a brief one to both us especially when we started chatting away about everything about our children, our backpacks, our men etc. "Not very long after", we arrived the resort.

It was drizzling when we arrived Mesilau. I checked the weather forecast before the trip, and the outlook didn't look good, it was a sign of rain throughout the week. However, it didn't worry me too much since everything has been scheduled and paid.

We checked in the resort at about 4pm, and continued our conversation in our room until the time for dinner which was 7pm. Our target for the night was to sleep at 9pm since we are expecting a full blast hiking up to the base camp. True enough, our chittery chattery stopped at 9pm sharp!

We woke up at 6:30am the next morning, and we took about 1/2 hour to freshen ourself up. Packed up our backpack, and off to the restaurant to have our simple breakfast which included : Orange Juice, Tea/Coffee, Toasts, Eggs, Sausages, Bean in Tomato Sauce and Fruits.

We hit to the starting point of Mesilau Trail just right before 9pm. We had one guide and one young lady as our porter to join us in our hike to Low's Peak. In less than half and hour, the rain started to pour dogs & cats. We stopped at the 1st KM hut, and we waited for a while. But we thought it was not a very good idea to wait till the rain stops, as we have a LONG WAY ahead of us. Thus, without much hesitation, we proceeded our hike in the rain.

All paths are filled with rain water, wet & muddy. Even though the weather didn't favour us, I must said I had a good time throughout the hike. It was a total different experience from my first climb to Mt. Kinabalu. To me, hiking in the rain is such a sensational & memorable, I was wearing my SMILE all the way up to the Base Camp, Laban Rata. The rain was really heavy and I didn't manage to take a photo of the rush of the water flow in the stream.

The trail via Mesilau is not as monotonous as compared to Timpohon. Imagine, 4km of steps and steps, and then still step up after steps all the way up to the intersection of Mesilau & Timpohon Trail. In Mesilau, we see flights of wooden steps, rocky paths, red muddy paths, a easier trail and if the weather is fair, you will probably get some good views at the Lookout Point, which I did in my last climb here 5 years ago.

At 1:50pm, the fascinating sight of the Laban Rata House made me felt a sense of relief which is indescribable - "phew, 1st part of the hike ends right here!". At the same time, the satisfaction of being up here 1-1/2 hours earlier than the last hike make me put up a VICTORY smile on my face. Yuppie!

The first thing I did when I arrived at Laban Rata was to get a mug of HOT Milo. I have not drunk Milo any tastier than this mug that I had in Laban Rata. It instantly warmed me up who was totally soaked in the rain during the hike.

This photo didn't show much, but this pair of shoes weathered the rough hike up here with me. Horray to my pair of lovely "gym shoes". They are now still in good condition after a wash!!! I was expecting to dispose it upon the journey ends, but it was still in superb condition. :P

Just for my own record and some friends' queries, these are the price list that you are going to expect in Laban Rata. Yes, my mug of yummy Milo cost me RM13.00 which I can get myself a small tin of it in town. What do you expect? When you in their RestHouse, one and only one, you are already been placed on the chopping board. Unless, BYO!

Again, there are limited resources up in Laban Rata, so you will expecting the weak generator stops in a sudden and came back running the current in another second. Needless to say, everyone's desires of HOT WATER SHOWER will be rather hard to come by. Well, IF you are lucky enough, LIKE ME, you will get occasion hot water during the shower. Unlucky for my dear buddy, she had icing cold water throughout her shower. LOL :P

We were awake at 2:30am, had a really simple SUPPER before we head off to Low's Peak. Elaine and I were amongst the last to leave Laban Rata. We left at around 3:30am and we overtook some hikers and we arrived at 5:30pm below Low's Peak to take some photos. We were approximately 100-150M away from the Low's Peak. It was super windy and I was extremely cold. The strong chilling wind put off my desire of using my D600 & Benro boy. Elaine is a Pro in Photography, and I think her photography desires fight the chilling winds and she was steadily setting up her tripod and camera for shoots, while I was shivering in the cold chilling wind, getting frustrated over the shutter which did not seem to work under my THICK WOOLEN GLOVES. I attempted to took the gloves off, in less than 2 seconds, I quickly put it on again. It was TOO cold for me to proceed. I decided to keep my D600 and the Benro back to my backpack, and took out my daily photo gadget, IPHONE, snapping away here and there, which was MUCH easier to manipulate.

We returned to Laban Rata at 10:00am, we left Laban Rata at 10:30am after our breakfast in the resthouse.

Our Finish Line at Timpohon Gate at 12:48 noon.

VICTORY!

Online Shopping Fanatic

The SuperB Bodysuit @ RM 29.00
Elephant Bodysuit @ RM 38.00

Minnie Mouse Tutu Dress & Hairband @ RM 89.00

Snow White Tutu Dress & Hairband @ RM 89.00

Dress @ RM 68.00

Cardigan, Top & Jeans Set @ RM 79.00

Leopard Cardigan @ RM 49.00

This is my first batch of online shopping in 2013. I had two online shopping experience before which the actual products were way below under my expectation. I know it's unfair to set a rather high expectation for such a price that I am paying. *sigh* online shopping is really not my cup of tea. They will never look like what I have picked.

For this purchase, I was a little disappointed when I opened up the parcel. They  looked MUCH better in the picture than the actual products. However, looking at the price that I am paying, I guess this is it! :( For this purchase, I would say, at least the Minnie Mouse & Snow White Tutu Dress is exactly as pictures posted. The rest, hmm.... no comment.

Another batch should be arriving next week. If the second batch turns out another disappointment, then I am very very very certain that no more online shopping for me in the future. The second batch cost a little more, with the higher price that I am paying, hopefully I can get something within my expectation! The least is to MATCH what has been shown in the pictures online. Pray Pray Pray!

Adios 2012, Hola 2013!

Exactly 7 hours to end the happening year of 2012. It's good to know that it's coming to an end, and it's good to know that all of us survived the "Mayan's Prophecy". LOL! It's good to know that it is not the end of the world YET! It's good to know that my girls are happy. It's good to know that many are happy. I have more reasons to live my life to max since everything seems to be SO GOOD!!!!!!!!!

I love NEW YEAR as it's time for me restore and restart. I love the "Restart" button and a New Year is definitely a "Restart" button for me. It's like a game whereby you can resume the game at the current stage with a second chance to live and fight again. Hahaha.... I know what I am saying, do you?

So much better when ME, as a chinese, gets to RESTART twice in a year. Hahaha, stepping into a complete NEW YEAR according to our Gregorian Calendar (Internationally used Calendar) is ONCE, and it comes another round of NEW YEAR for me to begin my new life once again according to the Chinese Calendar.

It's Interesting!!! - All the while I thought that Lunar Calendar means Chinese Calendar, and I have just found out that Lunar Calendar is actually associated to Islamic Calendar whereas Chinese Calendar is the combination of Lunar & Solar Calendar which they call it Lunisolar Calendar. More info, click here. :P

Well, YES! Two New Beginnings for me. I am going through the first chance of the Year TOMORROW, and the second chance coming next February 2013.

So, Time to restore and restart, means I will have to consolidate all the happening events of 2012, and revive from the unpleasant events and revamp to a bette life for year 2013.

Consequently, I need a stringent plan for my New Year to begin my New Life. Let's get going!

1. First thing to LEARN for a New Life is to STOP expecting. Expectation is destructive. It can brings one's life to a total contentment but it can also destroys one's life. Hahaha... It's over exaggerating i Know! This is my LESSON learnt against a specifically SUBJECT/OBJECT/SOMEBODY.

2. R*************. Full Stop! Nothing to elaborate.
3. Commit more time for career growth. Sounds strange, huh? Everyone knows that I am working in my dad's company, career growth doesn't make much sense since I am getting all the privilege of being an employee plus a kin to the boss. I have been stagnant or rather slacking at work after Clarisse's birth. I have diverted most of my attentions to both my girls and my heart was distant from work, especially Chloe's entering her new adventure @ P&J, so much activities and Clarisse's growing phase is full of exciting events. Anyway, it's time to get back to reality. I have to find balance in both work & my girls. Hopefully. This is my new year resolution! I want to GET my new Catalogue published THIS YEAR. I want to build up potential customer list. I want to update my website. I want to look into the possible solution for the inventory system. I want to work on the PROPOSAL on my own. I want to go to the STORE to see with my own eyes. I want .. I want .. I want ..

4. Plan my own holiday, stop procrastinating! I got to find friends to travel with me. I stayed put when someone said "NO" to me. Life is short. I shouldn't wait if I want to do it, just try to look for friends or just LEARN how to travel alone.

5. I was writing about how Chloe portrays a lack of courage and confidence in herself. Same here! *Sigh* She has inherited the lousy trait of me. Geez. I want to learn how to overcome Loneliness! I should say I should thrash the acute nostalgia for SOMEONE, and build confidence and courage out of SOMEONE. Loneliness is a matter of mind, is a faculty of consciousness which I should be able to turn the meaning the other way round. Send all the negativeness away and resume my life with courage & confidence.

6. I want to KEEP fit. Kakakaka... I want to be healthy and fit. So, I am going to continue my exercise regime which is going back to GYM regularly. Maybe, I should join some marathons with the children to join the fun while promoting healthiness to my children.

7. I might consider to pick up piano again. Ya. It's been a while. I was never good in it BUT i enjoy playing some good and EASY pieces. I am going to check if I can get a piano teacher in the Ballet Center at the same time as my girls's ballet lesson.

8. I want to KEEP my diet Green in terms of Vegetables. I want myself and the children to take in more vegetables. Not complete green, but almost green. Get it? I am NOT turning my children into Vegetarians; my objective of green means more vegetables compared to Meats & Carbo like rice & noodles.

8. KEEP a balance mind, balance life!

.......That's all for now......Remember? I have a second chance to set my resolution again. LOL.

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2013! Feliz Ano Neuvo!

War of Skin Allergy

WARNING!!!!
This post contains pictures that might cause unpleasant sight. :P
Continue if you are interested to know about it.
There is no intention of defamation of any brands or products,
this is merely meant for my own records.

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

14th Dec 2012
  • Happily Shopping for Christmas Presents.
  • New Skin Care bought for my own use :- Jur Rose Mist, Jur Rose Cleansing Cream, Jur Rose Body Oil, FOC Jur Lavender Face Loose Powder
  • I love Jur products, I have been using them for years, especially the Rose range.
  • The differences of this purchase was the PACKAGING of the Rose Mist (it's Plastic bottle now) and there's an additional complementary Lavender Loose Powder.

15th Dec 2012
  • Skincare routine as usual, including the new purchased items, excluding the Lavender Powder
  • Additional info - I slept on the bed which I caught bug bites everytime I lay on it. My left cheek was on the pillow for 1 hour with the same sleeping posture. I was certain about the duration because I had hardtime falling asleep that night.

16th Dec 2012
  • Found 6 - 7 red spot on my left face. Immediately, I associated the spot to the bed bugs/ dust mites. It was unquestionable at that moment, I applied Thursday Plantation Tea Tree Oil and followed by the Thursday Plantation Blemish Gel.
  • These spots bothered me quite a bit, I concealed with Dr. Hauschka's Tinted Blemish Stick.
  • I put on Channel foundation a little thicker than usual. It was a little too Shinny, and then I topped it up with the Lavender Loose Powder.
17th Dec 2012
  • Red spots spreaded a little like 2 or 3 extras on the same side of my face.
  • I covered it as per what I did on the 16th.
  • I went out dinner with Wendy, and showed her the spot. The number of red spots remained the same. Red spots similar to those that I usually found on my legs or hands, thus I was not surprised and did not have the intention to take any pictures of it to keep a record nor any plan to consult doctors.
  • After a shower, I could feel a slight inflammation on my face, not severe and redness appeared gradually. No itch, no soreness. Just a very mild feeling of inflammation.
18th Dec 2012
  • Woke up with more red patches on my face, which the feeling of inflammation is a little more intense. But no pain, swelling or itchiness. Just Redness!
  • Went straight to the best Skin Specialist in town - Dr. Ting.
  • He confirmed that the allergy was not caused by bedbugs/dust mites as the form of red patches didn't resemble of bugs bites, his diagnosis of the allergy was caused by my NEW skincare. But, I didn't use ANYTHING new - I thought at that moment.
  • He prescribed both topical and oral medication for two weeks to treat my allergy.

19th December 2012

  • I was in denial, and wanted more advise, so I went to our most trusted neighbourhood GP, Dr. Loo.
  • He gave the same diagnosis as Dr. Ting, and he claimed that Dr. Ting is the best skin specialist in Town.
  • The antihistamine and antibiotics are making me a sick person, feeling sick and drowsy for days.
20th December 2012

21st - 24th December 2012

25th December 2012

I can't defy the best doctors' diagnosis. No way! But I am sure those red spots on my left face were caused by bugbites.

Then came the allergy due to the extra "stuff" that I applied on my face to conceal those stupid spots.

Result

It's Negative!! which is a good news for NOW.

I don't know how to start and I am still contemplating if I should blog about this matter. I do not wish to include some heart-rending matters in my blog because it is suppose to preserve our good and happy moments of my children and myself. I'll need more times to consider ....

Wendy's right. This is a test to me, a test of endurance.....a test of strength..... a test of determination....

Renew Passport for Novi

This is my third visit to the Indonesian Embassy, and it's still as crowded as always.

We woke up 6am this morning. We means Novi & Myself.

I woke up early so that I can help out to prepare my girls' lunch. I prepared Cauliflower Chicken Porridge in the mini slow cooker, it's easy, just dump all the ingredient into the slow cooker, and ta da...by noon it is ready to serve. In fact, I love the texture of the Porridge cooked using slow cooker. It is smoother and tastier, somehow.

By the time we finished our morning task, that's it, get my girls ready for school, it was already 8am. My plan was to leave home by 7.30am. *sigh* We ended up leaving home at 8.15am.

The Indonesian Embassy is not too far away from home, with a little traffic, we managed to arrived there by 8.30am.

Documents needed for Indonesian Passport Renewal :
1. Foreign Maid Protector Insurance - 3 copies.

- which you can obtain it from the Post Office or the Parking Lot next to the Indonesian Embassy. There are people waiting to "assist" you. Once you get the Insurance which cost RM75, proceed straight to the Embassy. Unless you don't mind paying for the Photocopy cost of RM1 per copy. The Photocopy service inside the Embassy is FOC. But, my suggestion is to avoid the rowdy queue, just try to get all these done before you go to the Embassy.

2. 3 copies of Employer's I/C

3. Since Novi is not under my name, I got to prepare 3 copies of my I/C and 3 copies of my Marriage Cert.

4. 3 copies of Contract of Employments - which you will be collected from the Embassy

5. 1 Blue Form - oppsie.... I don't know what form is it - it is like Bio-Data Form for the applicant.

Once you got all these documents ready, the applicant should proceed to the take a photo for the passport which is also free. Don't try to bring your own photo to escape the queue, they don't accept it. So, no choice, QUEUE!

If you need the photocopy service, it is available for free. Just the queue and the crowd...hmm...try to avoid them if you can.

Then? Wait for your number to be called lor.

Those counters start operation at 9am sharp. Our Number was 2031, and two counters were serving this particular category, Domestic Maid. We got our turn at about 10.30am. The procedure was easy and swift, no conversation exchanged. We handed those documents, and the operator stapled here stapled there to ensure all 3 sets of documents are in accordance. Then, RM18 is collected for the Passport Renewal.

Then, we were told to keep the queue number and wait for our number to be called again. Today is our lucky day, it was not a long wait for the next calling. By 11am, we got everything done, except for the collection of Passport, which we were told to wait for another half an hour or so.

The distribution of Passport will starts at 11am officially for ALL parties. We waited for about 45 mins, and Novi collected her Passport.

Ta Da...RM 18 for a Renewal & 4 Hours from the initial procedure until the collection passport - PLUS - while Novi was waiting for her Passport, I went to buy Lunch for Novi & my Grandma.

:P WHAT A GOOD DAY!

I hope the rest of the day remain as GOOD or EVEN BETTER. I shall share with you after a visit to the specialist later. I AM NOT PREGNANT! Stay tuned!

October 18, 2012

2nd Day @ Home

Everyone must be thinking "Hey, are you confused, it should be closed to three since Novi left."

Yeah, I was lucky, I had a free helper and her name is "MOMMY". My mom had taken over the nanny job for the past weeks. She is handling moderately WELL. Hahaha....I am just fussy. Anyway, I decided to take over the job and let her rest. Honestly, I think staying at home to take care of these monkeys is way more energy-consuming than work in the office, where I get to ask someone to even pass me ANYTHING I want, Tea lady to serve tea and food. At home? I have to be the "Ah 4 (sei)" a.k.a. servant to my children.

I am not screaming as much comparing to the 1st week Novi left us. Yes, Is either I am adapting it or my children are behaving BETTER, it's easier for me to get them to clean up their mess with a little of bait.... the so called "HEALTHY and NOT SO HEALTHY" Scott's Vitamin Pastels in Orange or Berries flavour.

Briefly...

6.45am - Wake Up Alarm
7.00am - Wake Up Reluctantly, go prepare the snack boxes for the girls, water tumblers
7.20am - Wake the girls up, let them have their Nen Nen (Milk).
7.35am - Get the girls to brush their teeth and a simple face wash, of course pass urine.... Get them Changed....Brush their hairs and tie their hair up.
7.50am - Baby Cereal Time
8.05am - Left home to school

I am a workaholics, I can't stop working. I did a lot of different cleaning job for the past two days. I clean the air-cond filter, I clean the fan, I wash the curtain, I use the steam mop to mop the floor, I clean the sofa, I wash my girls' shoes,

11.30am - Preparing what to cook.
12.30noon - Finish cooking

Whenever there is time slot, I start looking for something to clean....GOSH...

1.00pm - The girls arrived home. One asleep, one still filled with energy. It really makes me happy to see Chloe home because she always scream "MAMA!" LOUDLY.

1.05pm - Bath them, change them, dry their hair... I usually have a little problem with Clarisse at this time slot. Somehow she doesn't want to bath at this TIME. Maybe she's tired, so I have to play tricks to get her into the mood to join Jie Jie for a bath.

1.35pm - ALL DONE including drying their hair and a little fight with Clarisse.

1.35pm - TIME for Lunch. Lunch is never easier. They will try all sorts of funny act to annoy you. arrgghhhh....Which also means my "roaring" session usually starts at this time. I am getting better. I scream lesser compared to yesterday. They will give you a lot of excuses like "I want to drink water", "I want to go shh shh", "I want to do Ban Sai"...Ya..No joke. My girls can pass urine or pass motion half way their mealtime, is either their digestive system is too good, or they are trying to annoy me.

2.00pm - Phew...finished the Meal War. I let them rest and play whatever they want for 15-30 minutes, depends on my MOOD. :P

2.30pm - Shoo Shoo Shoo.....Nap Time. I am lucky for this session of the day because it is never so difficult to get them to have a nap. I usually drop them into the room, and get them lie down properly. USUALLY but NOT ALL THE TIMES, they will be dozed off in 15 mins on their own.

In between, I bath myself, I start to clean something again but easier job like cleaning the mess on the table etc...

4.00pm - Wake them up IF there's Bao Bei (Bao Bei is where Chloe learns her chinese @ 6pm)

4.00pm - Free and Easy time for the girls while I have to prepare a simple meal for my girls.

5.00pm - Another round of Meal Battle......Ding Dong Ding Dong......

5.30pm - All done, get changed and off we go to Bao Bei.

7.30pm - Pick up Chloe from Bao Bei

8.00pm - Arrived Home

8.30pm - Have some simple interaction...or games...or do some coloring or worksheets from shichida.

9.15pm - Up Up to the TV area to watch TV while I can get myself a quick shower.

9.30pm - Get the girls changed and Nen Nen Time again

10.00pm - Into the room, some reading time, most of the times are MESSING Up times. They are not really interested in my books, they are just having their fun on their own with my books...I don't have how, but somehow they manage to have fun "playing" the books not reading the books. But Chloe would usually ask me to read to her, especially those fairy tales stories...related to PRETTY AND GLAMOUROUS PRINCESSES.

*sigh*....Yes...every night...I don't understand why, Chloe and Clarisse like to have their BIG Business done in the night. Geezz... The most frustrating thing is that they like to take turns!!!!!!! Gosh, when I really wanted to them to learn hot to TAKE TURN and they never did, but when it comes to the toilets, YES, they like to take their turn.

11.30pm - SHOULD BE ALL SOUNDLY ASLEEP. Including me. Why should be? It's too dark to check the time and it's too tiring to switch on the light to check the time too.....

The End
