Chloe and Clarisse started their very first Shichida Class on last Sunday. PaPa & MaMa came out from different class but the same thought - it is more like WE, the parent, attending the lesson and learn! Hahaha...it is such a disgrace that two fellas aged 30+ learning baby stuffs. :P
PaPa accompanied Chloe and MaMa accompanied Clarisse to the class respectively since they are at different age group. Clarisse's class is still acceptable since she is 2 years younger. At her age, she is learning lots of things related to colors, numbers and animals. In between, they will add in some songs with different languages, especially in NIHONGO - Japanese - since Shichida is originated from NIHON (Japan). Flashcards with different subjects like "world famous cartoonist" "fountains around the world". Initially, I thought it is all about Flashcard and it is a fast-moving class, and that our children will need to adapt to it whether you understand it or not. This is not the case at all, Flashcards was part of the program, but they also have many many games to train their memory like the matching games, sequence, story using linking memory method. Other than that, they also have mini bowling game to train their fingers and hands movements. Due to the limited 1 hour class duration, every section was done swiftly. Not one that last more than 5 mins, that's why it was kind of amazing to complete different genre in just one hour. Whether or not any particular child can accomplish the task, the program goes on, and the uncompleted tasks have be remained uncompleted and proceed with the new program. No comment about whether is this good or bad? Perhaps, what we really need is WE, the parents, bring home what we learned and let our children have the however long duration they need to practice it at home.
That's for Clarisse's class. I can't write much about Chloe since I was not the one who attended the class with Chloe. However, PaPa told me something interesting, a girl of the same age as Chloe can actually write. Well, maybe is no biggie to many parents, to me, Chloe still can't draw straight lines and circle properly, and she can't color like her peers in school. Writing is not a biggie, but knowing to write and knowing how to ADD up 4 + 4, the little one actually wrote the answer on a piece of paper. The little girl actually answered all correctly. According to PaPa, the little girls's mommy just sat behind quietly observing how her baby did all the excellence work. Kids in the same class can ALMOST complete the Maze, except for Chloe and the little girl. Unquestionably, the girl COMPLETED the Maze not ALMOST, and my Chloe was scribbling and scribbling as usual.
I am not trying to turn my girls into geniuses, I just want to give them the opportunity to expose themselves into different learning methods. Both girls seem to enjoy Shichida a lot as they told me that they want to go back to the class again. I guess the music, pictures and games attracted them back to the class.
By the way, We have officially ended Gymboree Classes even though my children adores Gymboree classes. Their classes are repetitive and I find I can bring my girls the same kind of fun at some other places like Kidz Sport or similar. It is sad to leave Gymboree as I always see happy faces from my girls after the classes. Hopefully, Shichida can also bring them the same happiness with some learning skills. GREEDYYYY~~~!!!
